I have a better idea.

If we want to avoid drunk driving, we should have good public transportation in America. I hung out with a hard-drinking crowd in Europe and the Middle East as a teenager and nobody EVER drove drunk because we could always walk or take public transportation.

If we want to avoid being a battered spouse, women should make the effort to be able to take care of themselves and not wait for some man to give their lives meaning and money. We should have divorce law which does not financially ruin men and put women on easy street for failing at marriage. Drunk people don't beat their partners; angry unsatisfied mentally messed-up people beat their partners.

I like Tony Goldwyns character in this film it is a reflection of how far someone would go, I saw him as such a placid successful business man, the way his character changes is really effective, in real life this is how people perhaps would react, the anger could take over and you could find yourself doing things you couldn't even dream up all in the name of love, care and respect. Just how far would one go, until your in that scenario who can say? Love, fear and anger are serious emotions.
If this had been a real story it would be interesting to know what would happen to the family, would they be okay as they the actions were all in self defense? I figured they probably would be until the father went back to blow Krugs head off with a microwave, then again his state of mind could protect him, I wonder the differences between UK law and US Law.

The Nonprofiteer thinks everyone should commemorate Repeal by having automobile accidents, beating their intimate partners, committing other felonies and falling down stairs.

When they’re done with that, maybe they could take the amount of money they were going to spend on liquor today and donate it to Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women’s Network, the National Center for the Victims of Crime or the Brain Injury Association of America.

It’s bad enough that the only intoxicant legally tolerated is simultaneously one of the most lethal. To suggest that its use be not merely permitted but celebrated should raise the hackles of everyone--medical professional, social services agency, or merely innocent family member--whose job it is to clean up after alcohol-related misbehavior.
